XNEdit

A Motif text editor continuing NEdit, with Unicode and antialiased text rendering.

Role: Motif application. XNEdit continues the NEdit text-editor lineage, adding Unicode support and antialiased text rendering. It is developed by Olaf Wintermann and retains a traditional graphical editing interface. Its build requirements explicitly include Motif 2.0 or later, alongside X11, Xft and other supporting libraries. Source and README

For Motif programmers, an editor provides a larger example of menus, dialogs, text interaction and application resources than a small widget demonstration. XNEdit is also useful as a practical application to try alongside the toolkit examples.
